At the CoreComm Solar Boat Challenge in Balatonalmádi, Hungary, Sunflare came in first overall, beating out 10 teams from four countries, with more than 130 competitors on the water. Along the way, Sunflare's boat also set a speed record of roughly 60 km/h on Lake Balaton.

In solar boat racing, every joule counts. Teams must balance the power generated by the sun with battery availability, propulsion demand, speed, manoeuvrability and changing conditions on the water.

Built in-house

Sunflare designs, builds, and develops its own solar boat in-house. And that's Sunflare's strength: its willingness to go beyond off-the-shelf solutions. The team explains that racing at the highest level requires more than standard components, it requires designing, manufacturing, testing and refining core technologies in-house.

Sunflare combines solar cells, battery systems, hydrofoils, its own streamlined hull, and data systems to build a state-of-the-art racing boat. Each race is both a competition and a live test of the technology, providing valuable insight for the next iteration.
