Dispatch Expands European Storage Pipeline, Prioritizing Germany

Dispatch is developing large-scale battery storage projects across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Among these markets, Germany stands out: its scale, high renewable penetration, and supportive policy environment make it particularly attractive.

Large-scale storage projects are capital-intensive, which is why Dispatch partners with investors who share our mission. While rooftop solar and heat pumps decarbonize households, utility-scale batteries transform the energy system itself — providing the flexibility and reliability needed to accelerate the energy transition.

“The energy transition cannot succeed without storage,” said Eiso Vaandrager, CEO of Dispatch. “The technology is here, the business case is strong, and international examples prove it works. What we need now is permitting and policy that match the urgency of the climate challenge.”

Hans Vink, CTO of Dispatch, added: “Our focus is on building safe, reliable systems that can operate at scale. Germany’s energy landscape makes it the ideal place to demonstrate how large-scale batteries support grid stability and enable deeper renewable integration.”

To highlight the role of storage, Dispatch recently hosted a conversation with Sven Pluut (co-founder of Zonhub), alongside Eiso Vaandrager and Hans Vink. Together, they explored:

  • The current state of large-scale battery storage
  • What needs to change — and how fast
  • How essential and safe storage really is
  • Why Dispatch is prioritizing development in Germany
