Most frequent Q&A
What is utility scale battery storage?
Utility-scale battery storage are large-scale (10MW-100MW) batteries usually located next to a grid substation. These batteries have the important role to support the grid to balance the intermittent nature of solar and wind, and allowing more efficient use of this energy. Tennet estimates that as much as 50GW of installed capacity could be required by 2050.
How much capacity do you have?
We currently have >30MW in projects in development and >200MW in the pipeline. We expect to take the first contracts in first half of 2022. Contact us for more information.
What are the performance guarantees?
Our battery storage systems meet the highest specifications, ensuring they perform at their optimal level. Dispatch has a long-standing relationship with the major battery manufacturers and all of the batteries come with state-of-the-art fire protection, security and AC systems.
Every battery energy storage system we install and maintain comes with a 10-year, 98% availability guarantee, with planned and reactive maintenance contracts.
What are the cost?
Cost is calculated on a case-by-case basis. Battery capacity is rent out in 3MW/6MWh blocks for longer or shorter periods to a client. This can be 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or several years with starting and ending SOC at 50%. Dispatch uses a dynamic pricing model for short-term contracts and a flat rate for long-term contracts. Most clients operate the battery directly through an API on the different energy markets. If needed we can also support the client in marketing the energy through a market aggregator service.
